Bosco’s Pirate Life – Dylan’s Story

My name is Dylan, and this story didn’t start on Instagram.

It started at sea.

For years, I worked on super yachts—detailing boats, working with engineers, moving through a world filled with wealth, status, and people who seemingly had everything. I met some of the richest people in the world, sailed the most beautiful oceans, and lived what many would call “the dream.”

But deep down, something was missing.

I realised that having everything doesn’t mean life is complete.

Then COVID hit.

Overnight, everything flipped upside down.

I lost my job.

I lost my sense of direction.

I lost family connections.

For the first time in my life, it felt like the tide was only going out—and it was never coming back in. Every day felt heavier than the last. I didn’t know who I was anymore, or where I belonged.

And that’s when destiny showed up…

in the form of a little French bulldog named Bosco.

From the moment I met him, he didn’t feel like a pet.

He felt like a long-lost friend.

A buddy.

Family.

Bosco was there when I was at my lowest. He woke me up from a nightmare I didn’t even realise I was stuck in. He stayed beside me when words failed, when the world felt silent, when I needed something—or someone—to keep me moving forward.

My partner Stef’s father always used to say:

“The day you feel ready to give up is never the end. Nature has a way of giving you purpose.”

Bosco became that purpose.

I decided to go back to the only place that ever truly made sense to me—the sea.

I moved onto a boat and lived simply, just me and Bosco. We travelled back and forth from land in a small dinghy, picking up supplies, learning a new rhythm of life. Bosco would ride that dinghy with total confidence, like he was born for it.

One day, while watching surfers from the water, an idea hit me.

I put Bosco on a surfboard.

At first, I towed him slowly behind the dinghy. He fell off, and I panicked—but he didn’t. He climbed straight back on and tried again. And again. And again. He was loving it.

He’d look at me while watching other surfers, then back at me—like a son looking at his father, asking, “Did you see that?”

And honestly… it made me feel like a proud dad. It meant everything.

Every morning, Bosco would wake me up by chewing his surfboard—his way of saying, “Let’s go. The ocean’s waiting.”

He never quit. Ever.

We started slow. Then faster.

Soon, he was barking at me to go faster, pushing me the same way he pushed himself. That’s when I started filming—just raw moments, real life, no plan. I posted them on Instagram, not knowing what would come next.

That’s how @boscospiratelife was born.

What started as videos for fun became something bigger. People connected to it—not just because a dog was surfing, but because it represented freedom, resilience, joy, and starting again.

Then came the next chapter.

A new member joined the crew—Treasure.

She’s exactly what her name says: a treasure. A queen. Endless energy. Fearless. She learns fast and somehow teaches us even faster. She’s shown us new ways to live, to play, and to see the world differently.

Now it’s the three of us.

The idea is simple but powerful:

Travel the world. Make people smile. Inspire others to keep going.

Work with creators and brands that actually mean something. Share stories that remind people that life moves in tides—high and low—and both matter.

The sea means everything to us.

On low tide or high tide—just like life—it teaches you patience, respect, and trust that the water always comes back.

Bosco didn’t just save me.

He gave me direction.

He gave me purpose.

This isn’t about surfing dogs.

It’s about choosing life when it feels impossible.

This is Bosco’s Pirate Life.

And we’re only just getting started.
